JOEL AND ROXANNA THOMAS
science directors

Joel and Roxanna Thomas founded the Outdoor School programs for Twin Rocks Friends Camp on the Oregon Coast, before starting their own business Glen's Gizmos (www.glensgizmos.com). They have been working as science specialists for more than a decade and are excited to be directing the science department for the Resource Center. It is their goal to showcase Creation pointing toward Christ. Romans 1:20

In addition to directing the department, they will be teaching marine biology from elementary to advanced levels, as well as a variety of other classes in the future! We have participated in their outdoor school during the homeschool week at camp, and let us tell you, their classes are going to be FUN.

ANAMARIA MICU
music director

Anamaria has loved music since she was little. Her love for music increased growing up, taking piano and flute lessons for years and was part of several choir, band, and worship teams. She attended Concordia University where she got a music scholarship and was part of the university choir and ensembles. She earned her degree in K-8 education with a music endorsement, which led her to teach K-8 music at Cornerstone Christian School. Currently, she homeschools her kiddos and is involved with her church worship team, singing a playing piano. Anamaria teaches private piano from her home, takes a kids choir caroling every year, and organizes the LoveNow Christmas choir at her church for their yearly concert.

"Music is so powerful, so beautiful, and so healing, and I love sharing my passion and teaching music to others. My vision for the music department is that children would have the opportunity to learn the intricacy and beauty that God created in music and excel in their music skills and gifts that God has given them, bringing glory to Him through music." -Anamaria

MELANIE JUHALA
art director

Melanie is a homeschool graduate who has been teaching her own children for over a decade. She is mother to Seleia, Elora, Amarra, and Dashiell who range in age from first grade through high school. There are always art and science projects going on at their place, and she wouldn't have it any other way. Her heart has always been for encouraging other mothers and helping them to find the confidence that they need to thrive.

Christ's love for us is so evident in the beauty of creation if we only take the time to see it. Melanie strives to help others find the beauty in both themselves and the world around them, as we are all great works of art.The Master Artisan and Creator of All has given us each unique and wonderful gifts. Art is an amazing and limitless form of expression, and she is excited for students young and old to share in this everyday magic at Studio Abstract.

At Studio Abstract we plan to offer classes and open studio times for artists of all ages and ability levels as well as specialized workshops. Everyone from a toddler to a special needs student to a parent who just wants to get out and paint will be able to find something just for them. Are you interested in teaching or do you have an idea for a class? Please let Melanie know!
